Snapping Turtles Mating

  Snapping Turtles Mating

The common snapping turtle, Chelydra serpentina, is a resident freshwater turtle whose range extends from Nova Scotia to Florida and West to the Rock Mountains. Snappers are noted for their belligerent disposition and their powerful jaws. I encountered this mating pair at the John Heinz National Wldlife Refuge in Philadelphia.
